How to Connect LinkedIn to Codex (Two Commands)
Give Codex access to your professional network over MCP: two terminal commands, no API key, and your agent can find warm intro paths without leaving your workflow.
If you run Codex, you already live in the terminal, and you'd probably rather not click through a web app to find out who can introduce you to a prospect. Good news: your professional network is two commands away.
This is the setup most founders doing their own sales wish they had: ask your coding agent "who's my warmest path into this account?" between commits, and get an answer from your real network.
Why there's no direct integration
LinkedIn's official API exposes almost nothing about your connections to third-party tools, so no agent can read your network directly. Draftboard closes the gap: it maps who you know and who they know, scores every relationship 0 to 100 with the evidence behind the score, and serves all of it over a hosted MCP server. Codex queries that data. It never touches LinkedIn.
Setup
- Create a Draftboard account (free to start, 50 free credits) and sign in in your browser.
- In your terminal:
codex mcp add draftboard --url https://mcp.draftboard.com
codex mcp login draftboard
- The login command opens the approval screen in your browser. Approve it and you're connected. No API key to manage.
There's also a Draftboard plugin (beta) for Codex and Claude Code that adds a playbook teaching the agent to use the connector well: github.com/draftboardco/draftboard-skill.
What to ask once it's connected
Start with: "Use Draftboard to find warm introduction paths to [company]."
Then it gets fun, because the connector reads and writes:
- "Here's my prospect list. Add them all as targets and start the search."
- "Which of my connections can reach the most companies on this list?"
- "Mark the intro request to [person] as completed."
- "Pull my strongest paths and summarize who I should message this week."
And since Draftboard also has a full REST API, the step from "ask in chat" to "wire paths into your CRM or your own scripts" is short.
Two expectations: a fresh account maps your network in real time at a careful pace, so a big list takes a day or two to fill in. And every path comes back with receipts, a 0 to 100 score and the shared history behind it, not just a mutual-connection count.
