About Sequence

Sequence empowers users to take control of their finances through their Financial Router platform. It offers an unparalleed platform to visualize, control, and optimize your money with incredible ease and efficiency.

Sequence’s search for a Senior Community Manager

While Community started organically for Sequence, it has now become a core pillar to the team and their growing user base. Gilad Uziely, Sequence’s CEO, knew that in order to best amplify the Sequence community he needed to make a hire. The ideal candidate was someone in the US, who has built great communities before, has an understanding of the finance sphere and perhaps most importantly– deep empathy and alignment with the company’s mission.

Their Challenge

Despite knowing exactly what he was looking for, Gilad faced a challenge in hiring for this role: his (and his teams) network didn’t include anyone who fit the bill. Given that Sequence is a small team of 10, mostly based in a different geo than the role called for - the reach of their network wasn’t enough to access the right candidate. And without an in-house recruiter working on sourcing, Gilad needed to find a fresh source of talent.

Enter Draftboard

So when Gilad heard about Draftboard and its network of Scouts, he got excited. Within minutes of posting the job description, the Community Manager role was live on Draftboard and Scouts started working their magic.

In an incredibly short time, Scouts received 30 applications for the role - they approved 13 of those to as solid referrals, and those were passed on to Sequence. Of those 13, Sequence decided to interview 7 of them, or over 50% (!) - and one of them was Kevin Newsum.

The Hire

Sequence was introduced to Kevin via Draftboard just a week after posting the role and were immediately impressed by him. His track record of building meaningful communities, demonstrating user empathy and having a deep understanding of the finance domain made him the perfect candidate and ultimately - the perfect hire!

Recruiters and execs know that referrals make the best hires. They accept offers at higher rates, they stay longer, they have higher performance, and they fit the culture better. Draftboard was able to give Sequence access to talent they would have otherwise never discovered by tapping into the perfect network of Scouts, who ultimately found the ideal candidate.

If you find yourself in a similar position, we’d love to help. Get started with Draftboard today.

"I knew I didn’t have the right network to fill this role, so I immediately posted it on Draftboard. Within days I had great candidates in the pipeline."
Gilad Uziely, CEO of Sequence
