Week 9 NFL Preview

The NFL landscape has shifted quite a bit in the past week. The Niners acquired Garoppolo, and after a few weeks of playbook study he should finally get a chance to be a starting quarterback after playing behind Brady for three years. The Niners will face off against division rival Cardinals as they continue to search for their first win. After a 5-2 start the Bills made a big move trading for Kelvin Benjamin, giving the Bills a real threat in their receiving core. The move also bumps Funchees to WR1 out in Carolina. The Dolphins dealt a struggling Ajayi to Philadelphia for a fourth round pick. Ajayi has the ability to be a top running back, but in Philadelphia he will be sharing carries with Smallwood and Blount. It’ll be interesting to monitor how the Eagle’s backfield splits up the carries and if Ajayi can get back to his 2016 form. They’ll be playing a tough Denver run defense so limit your expectations this week.

Looking ahead to Sunday, the Saints host the Buccaneers and their struggling secondary. Look out for Brees and Michael Thomas to potentially have big games. The Chiefs head into Dallas to play the Cowboys as elite running backs Kareem Hunt and Ezekiel Elliot (yes he is active again somehow) square off in what should be a high scoring shootout. After a devastating injury to rookie Deshaun Watson, the Texans will be forced to start Savage as they play host to the Colts this week. We’ll see how much this quarterback change will affect the stock of WRs Hopkins and Fuller.
